After Hurricane Hugo, we converted what was once Tony’s Italian Food to the Golden Egg PancakeHouse. Tony’s Italian Food was originally known as Tony’s Pizza, and had been a popular hangout for the local high school back in the ’80s. However, with pizza becoming more popular and the big pizza chains taking off like crazy, my parents converted it to Tony’s Italian Food. But then, as pizza grew more popular, so did Italian food, and Italian restaurants started springing up everywhere. Deciding to bring something fresh to the area, my parents converted their business to a place where people could get a good breakfast at an affordable price.
More than twenty years later, the Golden Egg is still here, still providing great food to lots of satisfied local folks who come here every day–not to mention visitors who are just passing through. Although we are not as big as some of the others, we strive to provide good quality food and great service. We pay close attention to quality, having changed items on the menu to reflect that quality. We believe that there are no shortcuts when it comes to great food.
